Metabolic Health

A Naturopathic Approach

Your metabolism isn’t just about the number on the scale, it influences how your body makes and uses energy.

Do you have Metabolic Health Conditions?

Many women are walking around unknowingly with a common metabolic problem: insulin resistance.

The best way to think about insulin resistance is like PRE pre-diabetes. That’s the scary part: your blood sugars will be normal and yet you are insulin resistant which increases your risk of diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

The Importance of Blood Sugar Balance

Your body’s ability to maintain balanced blood sugar levels is crucial for energy and focus. Chronic high blood sugar can lead to insulin resistance and other health issues. Blood sugar levels impact your hunger and cravings and must be balanced to maintain a healthy weight.

Diagnosing Insulin Resistance

By definition, insulin resistance means that your blood sugar levels are still normal (so just checking your blood sugar can’t tell you if you’re insulin resistance). I check 4 tests to assess your metabolic health: fasting blood sugar, fasting insulin, HbA1c and C Reactive Protein (CRP- a marker of inflammation).
